ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP
Midwives who subscribe to the aims and objectives of the Organization shall be deemed to have become ordinary members on payment of a prescribed fee and annual contribution and shall have voting rights and be eligible to hold elective office.
HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
Midwives who have made outstanding contributions to the causes of midwifery and those espoused by Organization as deemed by the National General Assembly shall be honorary members but shall have no voting rights.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP
Any ordinary member nominated, seconded by at least three members and supported by at least ten members at the Annual General Meeting of the Organization, shall upon making a significant financial contribution by way of payment of a prescribed fee determined by the National Executive Committee to the Organization, be deemed to have become a life member.
ASPIRING MEMBERSHIP
Qualified midwives in Uganda who are yet to join private practice but plan to, shall be admitted as potential members on payment of a prescribed fee and annual contribution but shall have neither voting rights nor be eligible to hold elective office within the Organization.
CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP
This shall be open to all local, regional, national and international corporate bodies that subscribe to the aims and objectives of the Organization on payment of a prescribed fee and annual contribution but shall carry no voting rights and be ineligible to hold elective office.
OVER - AGE MEMBERSHIP
Midwives who have been members of the Organization for at least 10 years and have attained the age of 70 years, shall automatically become over – age members enjoying full privileges and obligations of membership except payment of annual fees.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
This shall be open to all individual well-wishers who subscribe to the aims and objectives of the Organization on payment of a prescribed fee and annual contribution but shall carry no voting rights and be ineligible to hold elective office.

The following are the requirements to become a member:
Not less than 5 Years of experience in a public or missionary hospital
Must have a License from the Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council
Must have a clinic in the community
Must be interviewed by Executive Committee of UPMA
Premises must be inspected by Executive Committee of UPMA
Must fill forms and attach 2 pp size photos
Must pay membership dues
