Training private midwives in eHMIS reporting

With support from the USAID SITES through the  Gretta Foundation & UHF,40 UPMA midwives were trained in eHMIS data recording and reporting. This pilot program is designed to strengthen their business practices and enable them to engage in electronic reporting of health data into national data systems. Although the private sector overall accounts for 29% of care provision in Uganda—including care in remote and poor communities—private practitioners rarely participate in national data collection. This pilot program seeks to make visible the impact of these often under-resourced frontline health workers, strengthen their access to support, and provide the data to ensure their voices count in healthcare policy and planning
